What Is a Sandbox?

If a website is “in the sandbox”, it is in a probationary period that search engines may use to prevent brand new websites from ranking highly, despite good SEO. Google has never confirmed its existence, but many SEO experts believe that there is evidence of its effects on new websites, which often rank higher with other search engines sooner than with Google.
